Movie review – The Notebook – WOW

TheNotebook

Being the movie lover I am I don’t have a love for anything really, Sci-fi would be my favourite should I be asked. I had a lazy morning and watched ‘The Notebook’ If you have not seen this movie, stop reading as there will be spoilers.

A love so true no time nor distance could take it away

As Duke tells the story his friend asks simply “I feel I remember this” Going back in time Duke tells the love story of a young man Noah who is poor and Allie who is from a rich family who don’t approve of relationship. They have wonderful a summer but one morning Allie wakes up to discover her family are moving back to New York, Noah made a promise to build a house from an old abandoned house and he promised to make it for Allie

The years go past, Noah serves in WWII and Allie gets engaged to marry and you feel love is lost. A chance picture in a paper of Noah standing in-front of the home he promises Allie as she is standing in her wedding dress gets her thinking. She drives to Noah, all the while engaged to marry, they spend two days together, passion and love, Noah doesn’t want to lose her again, sadly she drives away into town. Her to be husband is in a hotel room, it seems she is going to stay with him. The movie skips back to Duke and his friend, she asks “Who did she choose” The movie cuts back to a scene of Allie driving her car to meet Noah and you know there and then they are to be

All alone old Duke is telling this story to his friend, his friend is Allie, an old Allie who does not remember. Duke wants her back but she forgets and screams in terror. All along the book Duke was reading wasn’t Noah’s words they were Allie’s, yeah the book was written by a younger Allie

I give this movie 8 out of 10, the plot I usually can see coming but with the ‘Notebook’ I never. It is a story of love through adversity, a story of love through no means. Yeah I cried at the end. Often I wonder why I cry so easy but I guess it’s ok to cry. I know I am different and I know the love that I was watching because I have felt it, it touched me. If you are looking to watch a movie, watch the notebook, a brilliant movie I thought

More love, less hate
