Police charge Aberdeen man over tweet abusing 11-year-old Celtic fan with Down’s Syndrome

Well done wee man....

Well done wee man….

When we come across this story before the idiot from Aberdeen abused young Jay I think every football fan in the country, real fans, would have smiled and thought ‘Nice touch’ As a Celtic writer and fan I know I did. Had this wee boy been at any other club I would have thought the same. I think it was an amazing gesture by the SPLF to give him nomination never mind the award and winning goal. This is the good side of football, the side of football the majority go to football for. Sadly 1 person tried to ruin it but that won’t happen, young Jay had his moment of glory. For those who don’t know Jay was a HUGE Samaras fan, Sammy lifted Jay out of the crowd at the end of last season and Jay fell in love with Sammy, Sammy invited Jay and his Dad to the World cup. So this all started with wee Jay and his love for Samaras.

Disgusting, no room for this in football or life

Police have charged a 19-year-old man in connection with offensive comments allegedly about a young boy with Down’s Syndrome. The comments, allegedly about 11-year-old Celtic fan Jay Beatty, were made following Celtic’s 4-0 win against Aberdeen yesterday and Police Scotland this evening confirmed a 19-year-old man has been charged. Football fans across the country have taken young Jay to heart after the Celtic players invited him to take part in their title celebrations, while last month the youngster was awarded the SPFL goal of the month award for a penalty he scored at half time in Celtic’s match at Hamilton. Chief Inspector Murray Main said “Police Scotland is committed to tackling antisocial behaviour be it in the street, in a football ground or online on social media sites.” A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal and the man will appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.
