When it comes to Bridges I have 3 at the end of my street that take you to the Highlands of Scotland, I can see the highlands from my home, also these bridges, at night JUST WOW! The Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge over the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, 9 miles (14 kilometres) west of Edinburgh City Centre. It is considered an iconic structure and a symbol of Scotland, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was designed by the English engineers Sir John Fowler and Sir Benjamin Baker.
Construction of the bridge began in 1882 and it was opened on 4 March 1890 by the Prince of Wales, the future Edward VII. The bridge spans the Forth between the villages of South Queensferry and North Queensferry and has a total length of 8,094 feet (2,467 m). It was the longest single cantilever bridge span in the world until 1917 when the Quebec Bridge in Canada was completed. It continues to be the world’s second-longest single cantilever span.

Opened on March 4, 1890 with Construction starting in 1882. For the last 2 years I have watched the slow build of the new stunning Road bridge giving us Scot’s 2 bridges to the Highlands and Islands. Cost a LOT, but we are a rich Country even tied to London in a few areas still.
The Queensferry Crossing is due to open in 2016. The stunning, globally unique bridge forms the centerpiece of a major upgrade to the important cross-Forth transport corridor in the east of Scotland, representing a total Scottish Government investment of £1.325 to £1.35bn (at 2016 prices). The 1.7 miles (2.7km) structure will be the longest three-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world and also by far the largest to feature cables which cross mid-span. This innovative design provides extra strength and stiffness, allowing the towers and the deck to be more slender and elegant.
Now lets look at some bridges from around the World. They give me ‘The Fear’ 😀
