Blackford: Brexit a “Clear road map towards a second independence referendum”

IF you waste around £300 a year on newspapers that make you angry because of the lies, why pay to fuel the lie? I ask everyone to forget the lies and focus on the truth. The National is THE TRUTH of the Scottish voice. At some stage we MUST turn away from the lies, stop funding the lies, and our differences in ‘How Scotland will be free’ and just all get along till we are there. EGO of people can and does hold Countries back. What holds Scotland back are the lies. The National tells the truth, please buy it daily or subscribe here for online reads every day here, lets fund the truth so we can hear and read the truth: https://www.thenational.scot/

THE SNP has an “open ear” to a potential second referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union, the party’s Westminster leader has said.

Ian Blackford said that while the SNP’s priority was making sure Scotland could stay in the single market and customs union, the party was “watching developments” over the prospect of another EU vote.

He said a hard Brexit would signal a “clear road map towards a second independence referendum that for me would be the priority”.

“Our priority is to make sure that we can stay in the single market and the customs union,” he said. “We haven’t been arguing for a second EU referendum, we’re of course watching developments as far as that is concerned. We’re not in all circumstances diametrically opposed to that – we have an open ear to developments on that front – but for us it’s the priority of staying in the single market and the customs union that’s most important.”

He added: “I think it is clear that if we’re out the single market and the customs union there is a massive threat to our economy, to jobs, to prosperity and I would say on that basis that there is a clear road map towards a second independence referendum that for me would be the priority.”

EU Diplomats reveal Boris Johnson said ‘f**k business’ over Brexit fears

Full story below, and If this isn’t enough to make the wealthy in Scotland and around the UK re-think Brexit, I don’t know what will. This an article by National Newsdesk

It is damning as it is provocative towards the business structure of both Scotland and the UK as a whole. The SNP know he said it, Europe knows he said it, Ireland knows he said it, and they are about to show this Tory party what power WE DO HAVE. Three blogs ago I decided to come back to this story because I was told ‘Now is the time Shaun’ – The very next day the SNP Members in Westminster walked out in what I hear was a ‘Scripted’ act that was known by more than 1 side. The speaker broke one huge rule in denying SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford a sit in private to debate this awful power grab. The speaker knew the rules, watch the video again and you will see him being told what to do. This (ALLEGEDLY) was scripted. I think the British Political Structure knows the Union is in dissolve mode and they are trying to blame everyone for the coming collapse. Brexit, if you didn’t already know is SUICIDE for the UK Economy, Theresa May knows it, Labour know it, Tory party members alike know it, and you can bet your last £1 the SNP were PRAYING the speaker followed through on ejecting Mr Blackford from the chamber for asking for a DEMOCRATIC right to speak in private about the power grab. The video is below, it is ILLEGAL, and everyone knows. Me writing about this the day before was on ASSURED words from 3 sources that ‘There is an agreement in place, over disagreement’

Now is our time Scotland, brace for impact, the apron wearers will take to the streets, we MIGHT have to fight them, but it’s a fight we must take on. This isn’t speculation, this is based on the 2014 NO VOTE and these same people taking to the streets in TRIUMPH by beating up their own. Scottish Nationals beaten in the streets by British National Neanderthals. I have had the threats from these people, and I do expect them to come again. Know my back is covered here. I am not speculating, I am sharing what YOU ALREADY KNOW, they know, Europe knows. The Union is falling. Freedom is a matter of time, but it will come at a Butchers Shop cost. Main Stream Media people are being SHUT UP as I shared yesterday, read it again if you have not. Brexit means England will stand alone, Ireland will be united and Scotland will be a nation again. Silence of Scottish voices won’t last long, and FINALLY, yet sadly, money losses will probably be what frees Scotland from this Capitalistic Tory Government and Boris Johnson saying what we already know or thought. This time, we have people OUTSIDE Scotland ready to back us. This will get messy, but hold Scotland…HOLD!!

BORIS Johnson is caught up in yet another diplomatic scandal, after he was reported to have said “fuck business” when asked about fears over Brexit.

EU diplomats have expressed their shock and disgust at the comments, which they say came during a Foreign Office reception last week celebrating the Queen‘s Birthday.

Asked about the fears business leaders had over Brexit, Johnson replied: “Fuck business.”

Johnson, who was speaking to Rudolf Huygelen, Belgium’s ambassador to the EU, was overheard saying they would fight Theresa May‘s soft Brexit “and win”.

He also said the UK was as divided as it had been since the English Civil War.

Sources close to Johnson are reported to have disputed the claim he swore, and said he was attacking “vested interests” of groups like the Confederation of British Industry.

Speaking to the Telegraph, an EU diplomat said: “It is shocking for him declare he would take the battle directly to Theresa May and speaking so openly about it. He wasn’t hiding his intentions at all.

“I was shocked by how crude and crass he was, as if he didn’t care for the consequences and especially not the economic consequences of Brexit.”

The paper reported that another, when presented with the comments, simply replied: “Jesus Christ.”

SNP MP Ivan McKee said: “These reported comments tell you all you need to know about Boris Johnson and his ilk within the Tory party. It’s ego and self-interest first, while people’s jobs and livelihoods are on the line.

“A Foreign Secretary with this level of contempt for Scottish business is clearly unfit for the job.

“Sadly this is becoming par for the course for the Tories, who think they can do what they want to Scotland and get away with it.

“The SNP will stand firm in seeking to protect people’s livelihoods from a hard Brexit, and continue to make the case for Scotland remaining within the Single Market and Customs Union. We won’t roll over and let the Tories tank our economy.

“Nor will we stand idly by as they use Brexit as a cover to grab powers from our Scottish Parliament and undermine devolution.”

It comes as Johnson urges the Prime Minister to deliver a “full British Brexit” as Cabinet colleagues warn the UK is able to walk away without a deal.

International Trade Secretary Liam Fox said the UK was not “bluffing” about being prepared to walk away from talks with Brussels, and Brexit Secretary David Davis said there is “lots going on” to prepare in case negotiations collapse.

Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Johnson said people would not tolerate a “bog roll Brexit” that was “soft, yielding and seemingly infinitely long”.

Their remarks were published on Saturday, the second anniversary of 2016’s EU referendum. Thousands of pro-EU marchers have begun a walk from Pall Mall to Parliament to demand a referendum on the terms of Brexit two years on from the vote.

The ministers’ comments prompted criticism from Siemens UK chief executive Juergen Maier, who said they were “incredibly unhelpful” and said it was time to work for a more pragmatic deal with the EU.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today that the firm wanted a soft Brexit with “minimum friction”, saying the Government had presided over “two years of not having achieved what we were promised, which is that this was all going to be easy”.

He said: “I think the realities are setting in and I think it is time to get away from slogans, ‘full British Brexit’, ‘going into combat with Europe’.

“It’s all incredibly unhelpful and what we need to do now is to get closer with our European partners and work out what a realistic, pragmatic Brexit is that works for both sides, the EU and ourselves.”

Meanwhile, research by the Centre for European Reform (CER) think tank indicated Brexit had already made the UK economy 2.1% weaker than it would have been if voters had decided to stay in the EU.

Dr Fox said it is “essential” the EU “understands… and believes” the Prime Minister’s assertion that no deal would be better than a bad deal.

He said the threat had “added credibility because if we were to leave, the economic impact on a number of European countries would be severe”.

“I think our negotiating partners would not be wise if they believed that the Prime Minister was bluffing,” he said.

Davis said that Britain was “able to leave without a deal”.

“We don’t want to do that, never have. The best option is leaving with a good deal but you’ve got to be able to walk away from the table,” he said.

Rejecting claims the Government has failed to make adequate preparations for a no-deal Brexit, he told the paper: “There’s lots going on, we haven’t made it public for very simple reasons.

“This is a careful process, it is not designed to scare the horses to worry people, it is designed to get the work done.”

The Brexit Secretary cited planning on migration matters and health standards, as well as treatment available to Britons in Europe.

“Work is going on all these things for both the negotiated outcome and if something goes wrong.”

Their comments in interviews to mark two years since the British people voted to leave the European Union were made before Airbus warned it could be forced to pull out of the UK if there was a “no deal” Brexit.

Katherine Bennett, Airbus’s senior vice president in the UK, said: “We don’t deal in idle threats. We seriously believe a no-deal Brexit would be catastrophic.”

Writing in the Sun, Johnson said the public were keen to get on with breaking away from Brussels.

“Across the country I find people who – whatever they voted two years ago – just want us to get on and do it,” he said.

“They don’t want a half-hearted Brexit. They don’t want some sort of hopeless compromise, some perpetual pushme-pullyou arrangement in which we stay half-in and half-out in a political no man’s land – with no more ministers round the table in Brussels and yet forced to obey EU laws.

“They don’t want some bog roll Brexit, soft, yielding and seemingly infinitely long.

“They want this Government to fulfil the mandate of the people and deliver a full British Brexit.”

But organisers of the People’s Vote march expect tens of thousands of people to show their support for a referendum on the final Brexit outcome.

Marchers will descend on Parliament Square, where speakers will include LibDem leader Sir Vince Cable, Tory former minister Anna Soubry, Labour’s David Lammy and Green co-leader Caroline Lucas.

Cable is expected to say Brexit is not a “done deal” or inevitable and can be stopped.

“Parliament is fiddling at the margins while the country slowly burns,” he is expected to warn as he calls on the Government to vote on the deal, or no deal, with the option of staying in the EU.

The CER estimate of a 2.1% smaller economy than if the UK had voted to remain in the EU is equivalent to a knock-on hit of £23 billion a year to the public finances, some £440 million a week.

CER deputy director John Springford said: “Two years on from the referendum, we now know that the Brexit vote has seriously damaged the economy.”

Nicola Sturgeon warns David Cameron he is on ‘borrowed time’

Yesterday Alex Salmond said outright that he felt the BBC were bias against the Yes movement and also added in another few Main Stream Media outlets when he said: Alex Salmond: BBC Bias was ‘Significant Factor’ in deciding Scottish Independence Referendum We also had Ruth Davidson have a report of what she said in this blog here Police hand Crown details about referendum claims involving Scottish Tory leader Davidson if this goes to court, it could open up any ‘Alleged’ cheated in the Referendum. As I have been saying lately I am positive Scotland could almost walk away from this greedy lying and alleged perverted and outdated draconian Westminster system, If we clear the decks with over 100 seats in the 2016 Scottish Elections, we are as good as free!! But then Labour say this: Labour call for all Scottish VAT revenue to stay in Scotland – Change of stance Like you I am trying figure out why Labour seem to support a few things the SNP and Yes Movement want. Strange times are coming, Nicola warned today, Alex accused yesterday. Just wait and see what is about to happen, of course if what I am told is true. When I can, I will blog when given permission. Trust me, we could be free much sooner than we think. The SNP with Alex and Nicola over the last few days are very telling. Thoughts here Scotland? The First Minister was speaking exactly one year after the Scottish referendum and suggested that the country would go to the polls again on the issue. David Cameron is “living on borrowed time” in his effort to keep Scotland as part of the UK, Nicola Sturgeon has warned.

Speaking exactly a year on from the Independence referendum when Scots voted to stay as part of Britain the First Minister said that Mr Cameron was ignoring “Scotland’s voice”.

The speech came as Mr Cameron outlined plans to guarantee the permanence of the devolved Scottish Parliament.
Scotland voted by 55% to 45% to remain in the UK in the referendum on 18 September of last year and at the time then First Minister Alex Salmond said that the poll was a “once-in-a-generation” opportunity.

However Ms Stugeon said this did not mean that Scots would never again go to the polls on the question during their lifetimes.

Speaking in Edinburgh, she said: “My message to David Cameron today is the same as it was when I met him just after the general election. “What happens to support for independence in the months and years to come will depend as much on what you do as it will on what we do. “And, right now, you are living on borrowed time. “If you continue to ignore Scotland’s voice, if you continue to disrespect the choice that people across this country made in May, more and more people will conclude that Westminster simply can’t deliver for Scotland.”

Mr Cameron said the result meant that “Scotland’s majority” had spoken and that “more Scots voted to keep our kingdom united than have ever voted for any party in any election in Scottish history”. He added: “Alex Salmond, Nicola Sturgeon and I signed the Edinburgh Agreement which pledged we would all respect the outcome of last year’s momentous vote. “We all agreed – as do the Scottish public – that the independence referendum should be a ‘once-in-a-generation’ or a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ event. So, now it is time to move on.”

Herald Scotland

THE Tory Scottish Secretary has been dragged into the continuing row over the ‘Frenchgate’ memo after ducking direct parliamentary questions about his own knowledge of it.

David Mundell refused to say when he first saw or became aware of the memo, which wrongly suggested Nicola Sturgeon wanted David Cameron to remain Prime Minister. Written by a Scotland Office official in March after a meeting between Sturgeon and French Ambassador Sylvie Bermann, the memo was leaked to damage the SNP during the election.

Despite denials, the then LibDem Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael and his special adviser Euan Roddin were later identified as the culprits. Four of Carmichael’s constituents are now pursuing legal action to have his election as the MP for Orkney & Shetland declared void. However there is suspicion at Westminster than Carmichael and Roddin were not the only politicians or special advisers who knew of the memo or its dubious content.

The Cabinet Office, which ran the inquiry into the leak, and the Scotland Office have both refused freedom of information requests about who else saw the memo. Peter Grant, SNP MP for Glenrothes, tabled Commons written questions about its distribution.

He asked Mundell, Carmichael’s coalition junior during the leak, “whether he was sent a copy of the memo”, “when he first became aware” of it, and when he first knew it was leaked. Mundell responded last week, but conspicuously failed to answer the first two points. He said he first knew of the leak when the Daily Telegraph ran a story on it, but did not address his personal knowledge of the memo itself.

Grant, who is seeking a Westminster Hall debate on the issue, condemned the evasion. “David Mundell has refused to answer the very simple question I asked – was he sent a copy of this infamous memo? It is a basic factual point, yet at every stage the Scotland Office has refused to divulge who was on the copy list. We need to know why it is seeking to cover it up.”

A Scotland Office spokesman said: “The Secretary of State for Scotland first became aware of the memorandum leak when it formed the basis of a story in the Daily Telegraph on 3 April. “The findings of the Cabinet Office enquiry made clear only the former Scottish Secretary and his Special Adviser had any involvement in the leaking of the memo.”

Very hard this morning to find any polls from last night, all I could find after an hour of looking is what is below. Is it because Nicola was so far in-front they don’t want to show the poll results? I have watched it over and Nicola was spoken over more than anyone and I don’t know if it’s just me but that crowd was hand picked. Anyway, here is what I could find. Cheers

We must avoid lies Scotland – Inform people, links here!

We must remember the lies of the past

We must remember the lies of the past

The above is proof should we need reminded what the media said, well the Sun newspaper here before the Scottish Parliament general election 2007. I wonder how many people fell for that front page? I often ask how many believed the BBC and all the other media who tried to scare Scottish people into voting against the SNP and Freedom. Looking back 8 years it can be said simply the SNP have done brilliant for Scotland. When Westminster applied the Bedroom tax the SNP paid the fines and refused to have people pay, this is one example of why the SNP is the only choice for Scotland.

Labour time and time again before an election come out with “New Labour New Values” and other “We can make Scotland better” slogans even though history shows Labour are happy to have Austerity cuts in Scotland as well as voting for Trident. Of course we must know Scottish Labour are told what to say and do by London Labour. Think about it seriously why did Johann Lamont resign as Labour leader a month after the referendum stating London treated Scotland as a ‘Branch Office’ Something tells me Johann stood down as she was sick of telling lies and standing up for things she probably didn’t agree with. Of course, I am guessing

So before we vote on May 7th let us remind each other of the lies from the past, even as early as 2014 so we are more in knowledge before we vote. I don’t think many no voters will vote Labour as I know many have stood up and said “How stupid was I” Many have. We will have hard core Labour voters, no voting electorate, here in Scotland but I firmly believe we have way over 90% and more good thinking Scottish people who won’t forget the propaganda in the image above and below my words nor the lies and scary stories told before the referendum. Knowledge is power Scotland. Let us not be as foolish again. My only worry is most take to main stream media and remain in the dark and surrounded by lies, we must get as many Scottish people involved in all the Facebook pages, add your friends, family, add people to them, I will leave some links below where I post everything I do about Scotland. LETS INFORM EACH OTHER NOW! Please feel free to add your own or another Scotland Facebook page, we must educate

Bombshell Survation poll shows majority of Scots now support new independence push

Our Survation poll shows 51 per cent of Scots would vote for an independent Scotland

Our Survation poll shows 51 per cent of Scots would vote for an independent Scotland

Via: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/exclusive-bombshell-daily-record-poll-5366657

Don’t know what to make of this poll by the Daily Record here. I know many no voters who wish they could go back, Tort and red Tory have proven to be close and liars, something people who can think ans use their brains won’t forget. As I said in the article before this one I expect an almost full SNP Holyrood and for the SNP to take all seats available in Westminster, meaning Scotland, the SNP being the 3rd biggest party in the British union. Interesting times ahead.I have been typing #IndyRef2 not in hope but more an educated guess

~~~~
A MAJORITY of Scots now back independence just six months after the referendum No vote, according to a sensational new poll.
The bombshell Daily Record survey shows that a repeat vote on Scotland’s future would see the public narrowly back a split by 51 per cent to 49 per cent. The poll of more than 1000 Scots also found a growing appetite for another referendum on independence in the near future.
And in more bad news for unionists, the SNP has increased its already commanding lead over Labour at Westminster – they’re now on course for an astonishing 53 of the 59 seats at May’s general election. The results underline the growing feeling that the constitutional question is far from settled despite the two-year debate on independence that culminated in last year’s historic vote.
Untitled
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has already U-turned on her pre-referendum vow that the ballot was a “once in a generation” event. She now insists there should be another referendum whenever a majority of Scots want it. And according to polling firm Survation that day could come a lot quicker than some people think. The poll found 80 per cent want another referendum at some point in the future – but a majority now want it before 2025. However, the most explosive finding is that support for independence is now ahead for the first time ever in a Survation poll.
Untitled2
It showed that 45 per cent of Scots would vote Yes if there was another referendum held tomorrow – the exact same percentage as backed indy on September 18. But only 43 per cent say they would vote No. The remaining 12 per cent are undecided or did not want to reveal how they would vote. If the don’t knows are excluded you would be left with a 51 per cent Yes to 49 per cent No referendum result.
Survation warned the new figures are not directly comparable to their pre-referendum polls – which never showed Yes ahead – because they were not weighted for likelihood to vote. The energy of the referendum Yes campaign is widely credited with a surge in SNP membership after the No vote and their dominant position in the polls. And our latest Survey shows that new Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy is still failing to make any progress in winning back support for the Nationalists.
Untitled3
In fact, it revealed the SNP have actually increased their massive lead in the polls over Labour. Forty-seven per cent of Scots now plan to vote SNP on May 7, up two points from our last poll in February.  Support for Labour fell two points to 26 per cent.
The Tories rose one point to 16 per cent and the Lib Dems dropped another point to a humiliating four per cent. If our results were repeated in the actual vote, the SNP would win 53 seats and Labour just FIVE.
The Lib Dems would lose all but one of their 11 Scots MPs and the Tories would be entirely wiped out in Scotland.
Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy said: “The referendum was last year’s disagreement, but in May we can work together to get rid of the Tories. “There is only one party across the UK that is big enough to stop the Tories being the largest party and that’s Labour.
“Now that it’s 100 per cent certain that there won’t be a Labour and SNP coalition there’s only one way to beat the Tories. “A vote for anyone other than Scottish Labour risks the Tories being the biggest party and David Cameron returning to Downing Street by accident.
PAY-Scottish-referendum
“That would be a terrible outcome for Scotland but it’s what could happen if this poll is repeated on election day.” SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson said: “This is another welcome poll – it shows that support to give Scotland a strong voice at Westminster by returning a team of SNP MPs to stand up for Scottish interests remains very high.
“By contrast, Labour continue to pay the price for being on the same side of so many arguments as the Tories, including their joint commitment to imposing even more spending cuts. “We take nothing for granted and will work extremely hard to win people’s trust on May 7 so that we can deliver jobs and growth in place of Westminster cuts, power for Scotland and the non-renewal of useless and expensive Trident nuclear weapons.”
Our poll also looked ahead to the 2016 Holyrood elections and put the SNP on an incredible 50 per cent support for the constituency vote compared with Labour’s 26 per cent. On the regional list vote the SNP are on 39 per cent compared with Labour’s 23 per cent. The poll of 1011 Scots was carried out by research consultants Survation between March 12 and March 17.
Holyrood Politicians admit to using drugs
Murphy: Political leaders spoke about drugs policy in a debate.
Via: http://news.stv.tv/scotland-decides/313732-murphy-recalls-sniffing-glue-was-a-working-class-thing-to-do/
Well, Well well. Jim can’t remember sniffing Glue. In reality this is a non story but when a debate happens on drug use and with kids involved in the process, for the Labour Scottish Branch Officer to say “I can’t remember sniffing glue” is pretty much saying “I probably sniffed glue” Strange one here or nothing here. Thought I would share for those who missed the story. With the other three Nicola Sturgeon, Conservative leader Ruth Davidson and Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie saying they have smoked cannabis I guess we have reality here. I ask, would we have this debate in Westminster? Interesting this. I think it’s good we can have open and honest drug debate, when it comes to drug legislation I am hopeful Cannabis/Hashish will be made legal for certain illness’s. I have Fibromyalgia, Dr’s medication does very little, Hashish is the only thing us sufferers of Chronic Pain can use. I helps me sleep and dulls my pain from screaming to just in a lot of pain. Thoughts anyone?
Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy has said “sniffing glue out of crisp pokes” was a “working class thing to do” in the Glasgow estate where he grew up, but he cannot remember if he tried it.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Conservative leader Ruth Davidson and Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie also admitted trying cannabis in their youth, during a debate at Glasgow University’s Queen Margaret Union. The leaders were commenting on research by the Institute for Social and Economic Research which said up to £900m a year could be raised through taxation of a regulated cannabis market, and were asked if they had tried the drug. Ms Sturgeon said: “I’m actually on record as making an admission on this once, probably, possibly at this university although not at this union, but it made me awfully sick.”
Ms Davidson said: “I went to Buckhaven High School, what do you think? I’m with Nicola, once or twice and it made me feel really sick.” Mr Rennie said: “Yes, in my youthful days.” Mr Murphy, who was raised in Arden in south Glasgow, said: “When I was growing up, and it was a long time ago, in the housing scheme that I lived in, glue sniffing was the thing.” When asked if he had tried it, he replied: “I don’t remember. “At that time, drugs, and I’m giving away my age, it was just a kind of working class thing to do, kind of sniffing glue out of crisp pokes. “It was a dreadful, harmful thing that was in that community at the time.”
He said he can’t remember if he tried it, adding: “I think a lot of people are judging me here tonight.” Former Lib Dem minister Norman Baker resigned from the Home Office in November, claiming home secretary Theresa May suppressed proposals to reform drugs policy.
Mr Rennie said this was a “despicable” decision and called for an open debate on drug use in the UK “based on facts and science”.
Ms Sturgeon and Mr Murphy echoed his call for an open debate on drugs but said cannabis should not be legalised, citing evidence linking it to mental health problems. Ms Davidson said: “I think some things are worth more than money, and the health of our nation is one of them.”
A spokesman for Scottish Labour said later: “Just to be clear, Mr Murphy has never taken drugs. The point he was making at the Glasgow University debate was that when he was growing up drugs weren’t as widespread and that the harmful thing for many people back then was glue sniffing. “For the record that’s not something Mr Murphy has tried either.”
Debate
The debate was compered by Bauer Media’s Scottish political editor Colin McKay and recorded for Radio Clyde, which revealed the leaders’ comments on Friday. Mr Rennie said Mr Baker resigned “because Theresa May refused to publish the scientific evidence about drug policy so that we could have a decent debate in this country at last, based on facts and science.”
Ms Davidson said: “There are plenty of studies, Willie, in medical journals published by universities that show a direct link between cannabis use and damage to mental health. “I don’t think that legalising cannabis and seeing a greater use of it will help in that front.” She said doctors are already battling with the impact of existing “legal highs”, which she said have been linked to suicides. Mr Murphy said: “I don’t believe in the legalisation of cannabis. “Of course, you are always guided by the evidence, but my instinct is backed up by what I have read about the impact on mental health.”
Ms Sturgeon said: “I think where Willie is right is that you should always trust the public to have grown up, evidence based debates, and I definitely don’t think suppressing evidence on issues like this helps a debate like this at all. “I don’t agree with the legalisation of cannabis. “I was health secretary for five years, and read a lot, researched a lot of this, thought a lot about it, spoke to a lot of people who had direct experience not just with cannabis but with other drugs, and there is an awful lot of evidence that cannabis is not a harmless substance, that it does lead to mental health problems and it can lead people into use of harder drugs.”
Well the new powers handed to Scotland are slowly starting to show, the SNP and Nicola Sturgeon is not messing around, she is doing as she promised and this is a brilliant for Scotland as we seek Home Rule then complete Independence from Britain by 2018, but ONLY when we are ready and know we will win. Many look at young Mums and presume they are easy to have sex with, on drugs, you know the drill. From my point of view I was a Dad at 17 my Partner was 16 and I stayed with her, as a young man I tried my luck at wanting my cake and eating in terms of still having mates and going out but I got there and became a proper partner and Dad. Looking back I know way too many of my friends or lads I knew who got young girls pregnant and did a runner leaving the young Mum on the breadline and very poor. What this amazing gesture by the Scottish Government has done is help the kid first, sure the Mum will get help but this is more for the kid who never asked to be born into poverty. Nicola Sturgeon has withheld a lot of Money in taxes bound for London and she has put it into the Education System where every kid in School now has a guidance counselor they can go to IF THEY CHOOSE. Nicola has put Millions into the Scottish NHS, Scotland have build the World’s first Chronic Pain Hospital, so it’s fair to say with Devolved Powers for Scotland’s Parliament at Holyrood is working and it is so early. This should be a wake up call to every living, walking breathing Scottish person of what Scotland can become as an independent country. People said we couldn’t do it but look what has been done already. I am VERY proud to be from Edinburgh, Scotland tonight, I love my country and the people who run it because they run it for us, by us and because of us. We must wait till we know we can win independence Scotland, but lets be sure we will have another shot very soon! And the key here, all and every case of support for young Mothers is free, 100% free, as a Tax payer I am more than happy to help that kid, we all should be
Edinburgh has become the first city in the world to offer every teenage mother vital one-to-one support as part of a pioneering project designed to give children the best possible start in life. The Capital was chosen five years ago to launch the pilot for the Family Nurse Partnership scheme, which originated in the United States and aims to “change the world, one baby at a time”.
First-time young mums are given intensive support through one-to-one home visits during pregnancy and the first two years of the baby’s life. Fathers are also assisted with parenting techniques and help to find employment and a secure home. More than 660 young women across Lothian have been helped, a take-up rate of 81 per cent.
Speaking at an event at Edinburgh Castle to mark the fifth anniversary, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon – who launched the pilot project in 2010 – said the resources and staffing were now in place for every eligible young mother in the city to be offered a place on the programme. She said: “It’s one of the best investments we can make as a society – we give young mothers the support they need, we help children to get the best possible start in life, and we reduce public spending further down the line, because we have better health, education and employment outcomes. “That’s why I’m delighted to announce today that Edinburgh has become the first city anywhere in the world to offer the family nurse partnership to every first-time mother aged 19 and under. That will make a huge difference to mothers and children across the city, and it’s a testament to the success of the partnership so far.”
Kate Billingham, senior adviser at Nurse Family Partnership International congratulated Scotland on behalf of the programme’s founder, Professor David Olds.
She said: “To have the first city in the world to reach 100 per cent coverage for teenage mums – along with high levels of quality – is an amazing achievement. Today we are recognising the leadership in Scotland, the skilled and dedicated nurses and the parents who have worked hard for their children and their own futures.”
The project recognises that “disadvantage begins in the womb” and aims to change the cycle of poverty by changing the lives of young mothers. Melanie Johnson, executive nurse director at NHS Lothian, said the scheme had gone from strength to strength since its launch. She said: “We are particularly pleased and proud in NHS Lothian that Edinburgh has become the first city in the world to be able to offer care to every client who requires it under the Family Nurse Partnership. “The service first began as a pilot project in January 2010 in Edinburgh and since then it has gone from strength to strength. It has also made a real and lasting impact after it was rolled out across the rest of Lothian and also Scotland.”
